Can psychics help police solve cases? DO psychics ever really help police solve crimes….or is that something we only hear and read and see on TV? And what about all of those psychics who claim to have been involved with solving murders, or missing person cases, or helping to recover people or property that have not been able to be found through more conventional means? Is it fact…..or fiction?
There are few areas that are more controversial and that stir up more bad blood than psychic crime solving cases. Skeptics will argue that NO psychics ever help solve crimes, while many psychics actively ARE in fact involved, often off the record…with aiding and assisting many cold cases and time sensitive situations where police are happy to get any advice, input and intuitive guidance they can find.
We know several of our own community members who do a lot of free or pro bono police consultation and several have exceptional law enforcement testimonials to their credit as well.
With that in mind, check out the recent article from the UK Independent about the official position of the College of Policing, as it pertains to accepting input and advice from psychics, mediums and other clairvoyant types of consultants. While it IS clear than many psychics are merely fishing for attention and are not gifted in any genuine way….it is quite exciting to see an official policing agency actually put into print what many have been doing anyway….with some surprising success, for many years!

Detectives investigating missing persons cases should consider tips from people claiming to have supernatural abilities, according to new proposals from the College of Policing.
Under revised professional standards released for consultation this week, officers are reminded: “High-profile missing person investigations nearly always attract the interest of psychics and others, such as witches and clairvoyants, stating that they possess extrasensory perception.”
The draft Authorised Professional Practice on missing persons investigations adds: “Any information received from psychics should be evaluated in the context of the case.” But officers are cautioned it should not “become a distraction to the overall investigation and search strategy unless it can be verified.”
Before taking clairvoyants seriously, “the motive of the individual should always be ascertained, especially where financial gain is included.” Officers should find out details of the methods used, including the circumstances in which they received the information and any “accredited successes.”
