What do Jews believe about the afterlife? Are there any good books about Jewish NDEs? Do Jewish people believe in reincarnation, heaven, hell or the survival of consciousness after the death of the body?
We’ve gotten a few questions in the last month or so about what Jewish people believe about the afterlife, and if there are any good books written by authoritative authors on Jewish conceptions about what happens when we die.
A really good recommendation is “Does the Soul Survive” written by a well known Rabbi, who is skeptical (and somewhat secular) with respect to his beliefs about God and the afterlife, until many in his community begin sharing their own spiritually transformative experiences with him….both in private, and then later, in public as well. Well worth checking out for both Jews (like myself) and non Jews, who are curious about what more mainstream Rabbi’s report from their own congregations, with respect to universal human experiences, like NDE’s.
