Suffering is inevitable. But James Baraz and Shoshana Alexander argue that responding to pain with compassion, care, and generosity is key to a joyful life.
What is the helpers high? A short definition that I happen to love:
The feeling of euphoria or satisfaction that individuals experience when helping others or engaging in acts of kindness. This feeling is often associated with the release of endorphins and a sense of fulfillment that comes from making a positive impact on someone’s life.
If you’re a helper, healer, empath, intuitive or otherwise engaged in the emotional life of others, you probably know the feeling well. The good news? It’s good for you! Check out this great article on the transformative power of helping others – and practicing compassion in the presence of suffering.
