Are near death experiences real? What is the best evidence for an afterlife? What are the best evidence AGAINST the idea that NDE’s, or spiritually transformative experiences are real?

Regardless of whether you are a true blue believer, a cynical skeptic or simply curious but NOT yet convinced……the upcoming debate between near death experience pioneer, Dr. Raymond Moody, along with best selling author and NDE survivor, neuroscientist Dr Eben Alexander….VERSUS, hardcore materialist skeptics – physicist and author Sean Carrol and popular podcaster, Dr Richard Novella, SHOULD be a ton of fun to watch. (that may have been the longest run on sentence I’ve ever written as well..;-)

While I’m a big believer that the totality of the evidence for the near death experience being a glimmer or glimpse into a wild, sometimes weird but wonderful world that awaits, it’s always fascinating to see other smart scientists who argue the other side of what the experience may signify, even if you don’t arrive at the same opinion as an experiencer, or observer, yourself.

Check out the details of the debate at the link below…and if you can check it out live, i’d highly recommend it!

If consciousness is just the workings of neurons and synapses, how do we explain the phenomenon of near-death experience? By some accounts, about 3% of the U.S. population has had one: an out-of-body experience often characterized by remarkable visions and feelings of peace and joy, all while the physical body is close to death. To skeptics, there are more plausible, natural explanations, like oxygen deprivation. Is the prospect of an existence after death “real” and provable by science, or a construct of wishful thinking about our own mortality?
